For starters, the service was friendly and they got me into a car quick. On the down fall, they put me into a horrible piece of crap car. Although, at first the car seemed great; clean inside, nice sound system, no major body damage... After having the car for a few months, there was almost a clunking noise in the front end that became more prevalent. So as a concerned young driver, I got ahold of the warranty company and took the car to be inspected to see what could be wrong with it, thinking it would be something small and easy to fix. After waiting an hour to have a diagnostic done, the mechanic comes back to me with 2 PAGES full of things that need to be repaired. Including a broken control arm ($375) and a cracked temperature gasket ($175) along with many many other things. Thankful I am paying extra on my car to have a warranty, I wasn't too worried because I figured it would all be covered. BUT NOT ONE SINGLE THING IS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY! A total of about $800 worth of work and parts need to be fixed. Now, not only are all of those things wrong with it, my car is now overheating to the point my coolant is rising upwards of about 220 degrees most times when driving it! Still, not a single thing is covered! The Kelly Blue Book value for the car I purchased is less than $5,000 in perfect condition. The total price I am financed for this horrible car? About $20,000 for a car that should not have cost more than $5,000!!! They will not take the car back, or do anything about major problems that are wrong with it! All I was told is they could postpone my payments, so I could use the money I would to make payments to get the car fixed. I am highly unsatisfied. DriveTime is NOT a place I would recommend ANYONE to go! Because I still owe about $14,000 on the car, I can't trade it in anywhere. I am literally stuck driving a car that basically could blow up at any second, because they refuse to do anything about it. I have kept up on oil changes and recently had the engine flushed, and all my fluids are always full. The dealership had to have know prior to selling me the car that there was more wrong with it. Before I even signed any papers, I had to point out there was a bad oil leak that was smoking and one of the tires was almost completely flat when they had me test drive the car. I have contacted a lawyer about all the problems and how unwilling the company is to help or do anything about the absolutely horrible vehicle they have sold me and am contemplating a lawsuit. As a full time college student, I went to them looking for a reliable car to get me through a couple years of college and help build my credit to set myself up for something better along the road. But here I am, totally stuck, with a car that I have already dished out hundreds of dollars into only to find it needs more and more repairs done to it, for things that must have been wrong from the time I purchased it. I had heard from a few friends to not purchase with DriveTime, but went ahead anyways because the car seemed nice and service was overly friendly. Only to realize the car was crap and the service was extra nice to coax you into signing the papers right away. They were extremely pushy, more so than any other dealership I have ever seen, and very bothersome before purchasing the car to find out when I was coming back. This place should not be in business and or should have better mechanics checking out cars before the customer leaves the lot. Let alone how EXTREMELY overpriced their cars are. Really, I mean $20,000 for a car worth less than $5,000. And they wont even take the piece of xxxx back!
